The Williams House Museum, 303 E Front St (Hwy 82), DeKalb, TX 75559

The Williams House Museum consists of 5 large buildings of historical items and memorabilia all related to the unique history of DeKalb, TX. Each of these buildings are filled with memorabilia going back with years of history. Each building has a theme that displays various items to inspire our minds about the past and shows the innovations that people had years ago to live and prosper as they did.

We also have some significant information about Dan Blocker and the tail piece of Ricky Nelson's airplane that fatally crashed here in DeKalb.

Many of the volunteers have spent countless hours putting this wealth of information together for anyone to come and visit.

Teresa Bybee has a passion for helping people feel better through the practice of yoga, as it has fueled the results she has seen and felt in her own life for over 25 years now. As a student of yoga, Teresa quickly recognized the myriad health benefits it provides, and the calling to help others feel better through this practice became a priority for her. She completed basic level yoga teacher training in 2010, and fueled by the excitement of learning, continued on to complete her advanced level training and Thai yoga certifications in 2011.

While she enjoyed the success of a studio in the big city of Plano, TX, her roots drew her back home in 2017, where she soon began dreaming of creating a space where she could once again share the nurturing and beneficial aspects of yoga with others. Having grown up in De Kalb, she could think of nothing better than to share this gift with her local community. Yoga is a practice that can be shared with all ages and all abilities, and has helped Teresa immensely through the aging process.

Understanding that we are all going to experience aches and pains, arthritis and any number of other ailments, yoga just
helps us feel better as we go through that process, and in many cases, delays it. While yoga can be practiced from many different perspectives and in many different ways, within the studio setting Teresa leaves the philosophy and esoteric principles at the door, so that her students and clients can feel comfortable focusing on the physical, emotional and mental well-being that is achieved with regular and consistent practice.

Jackie Hawkins Insurance Agency, 111 North Houston St., DeKalb, Texas 75559 began in 1982 with Mr. Hawkins’ desire to phase into a career change that would allow him retirement from Civil Service but still motivate him and challenge him mentally. The business expanded each year and he provided reliable insurance not only in DeKalb but across East Texas.

The agency continues to be independently owned and operated with ownership transferring to his son, Greg, in 2015. In order to provide easier access for clients, the office moved from the Hawkins’ home to a building in DeKalb in 2017. Pappy decided this was too long a commute (six miles) and officially retired from the agency at that time. Pappy went to his heavenly home December 11, 2018.

While beginning as a Germania agency, we now have appointments with other insurance companies as well. Increasing options for our customers is a primary goal and we are continually exploring other markets.
